A B O U T
John is based in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he has a
weekly jazz trio gig in the Shore Bar, Leith (Tues eve)
and teaches jazz piano. He was introduced to functional harmony (using Jerry Coker's book Improvising Jazz), analysis and transcription by Chris Norton who was writing his
Microjazz series for Boosey and Hawkes
at the time.
During 2007, John helped Conrad Cork produce the latest version of his
Harmony with LEGO bricks
by reviewing the whole book in detail and contributing summaries of the main parts.
John has recently played jazz gigs with
